Sevilla day 2

Saturday:

Matt and I both started out the day in grumpy-mcgrumperton moods thanks to our next door neighbors coming home from their evening of partying and continuing their party & smoking up a storm at 5-something am. I had to go down to the front desk twice to complain (nicely, but with my crazy mufasa hair)…

Fortunately, we had made reservations to take a bike tour of Sevilla (As Miguel knows well, biking can make everything better). After a slight miscommunication on where we were supposed to meet our guide, we connected with Rosalie, a trilingual Native of Holland who was working on finishing up her master’s degree at the University of Sevilla in International Relations. She gave English bike tours on the side to help put her through school. It was fabulous! We rode around for over 2 ½ hours and she gave us all sorts of history lessons and restaurants and shopping recommendations. We are both so glad we did the tour! It was active and informative and got us out of our funk (and satisfied Matt’s desire for biking—at least for the day. He’s tired of walking and prefers a much more efficient mode of transportation!)

After our tour, we did a long lunchtime tapas crawl, trying different restaurants that she had suggested. We went to one where Matt got a plate o’ gambas (large shrimpies), which he said were amazing. My new favorite food find is Salmorejo, which is a cold tomato soup (similar to gazpacho, but with a different zip).
